Josh Brookes wins 2015 British Superbike title
Josh Brookes has clinched his first MCE British Sꦬuperbike championship with two rꦆaces remaining by claiming victory at Brands Hatch.
In what has been a dominant romp in the second half of the season Brookes has notched up 12 wins over the past 14 races and has only finisꦡhed off the podium on two occasion all season.
Brookes has become the first Australian to win the BSB title since Troy Bayliss with GSE Ducati in 1999 and the first title for Yamaha since 20ܫ11 when Tommy Hill took a dramatic crown the last t🎃ime Shaun Muir's team were champions.
Hea💜ding into the season finale triple-header at the Kent circuit Brookes needed to outscore his last remaining Showdown rival by just three points in race one and duly did so in a fantastic scrap with defending champion Byrಞne, eventually getting the better of him on lap 14 to sprint away and claim the ultimate glory.
The Milwaukee Yamaha rider has utterly dominated the Showdown with double victory weekends at Assen and Silverstone, having also taken six consecutive race wins in the regul🍸ar season with a 'triple-double' at Brands Hatch, Thruxton and Cadwell Park.
Adapting to the new Yamaha R1 at the start of the season, Br♈ookes demonstrated the potential to be unl🥃ocked from the bike by finishing on the podium in all but one race of the opening ten contests before his winning streak commenced at Brands Hatch.
Even when faced wi𝔉th his biggest challenge of the season - when his bike conked out during qualifying at Oulton Park putting him 30th on the grid - he was able to fight through the field and finish in💙 fourth place.
As well as h🌞is consistency with race pace and an ever-present figure on the rostrum, Brookes has been a constant timesheet topper in free practice and started eight races 💃from pole position.
