Bennetts British Superbike championship leader Leon Haslam has returned to the top of the times for JG Speedfit Kawasaki at Assen with OMG Suzuki’s Gino Rea surprising by splitting the top two in the championship to see RAF Regular & Reserves Kawasaki’s Jake Dixon in thi🔯rd place.
After both title contenders solely focused on long runs during FP1 using the harder Pirelli rear tyre, Haslam duly returned to the front-running times throughout the afternoon session trading best lap🌳s with Dixon and Rea.
Haslam ended FP2 on top with a 1m 36.535s for JG Speedfit Kawasaki to maintain his momentum at Assen💛 having taken three wins from the past four BSB races at the Dutch track.
Having topped the morning session, Rea represents the surprise package for OMG Suzuki by taking second place in the second practice session at a track he is very familiar with from ꦇhis World Supersport days. Rea saw off Dixon with the 22-year-old in third place with the top three split by less than two-ღtenths of a second.
After impressing in 🅠FP1 with second place in the session, Tarran Mackenzie maintains his front-running pace with fourth place for McAMS Yamah🍨a ahead of fellow Showdown spoilers Tommy Bridewell (Moto Rapido Ducati) and Luke Mossey (JG Speedfit Kawasaki).
That saw BSB title contender Glenn Irwin shuffled down to seventh place late on for Be Wiser Ducat🍸i but remains ahead of fellow Showdown fighter Josh Brookes for McAMS Yamaha.
James Ellison, continuing to run Ohlins suspension for the first time this year with his Anvil Hire Yamaha, retains his top ten spot ahead of the final two Showdown contenders Peter Hickman (Smiths Racing BMW) in 10th and Bradley Ray (Buildbase Suzuki) in 11th.
