F1 2012 standings after Singapore GP

Fernando Alonso c𒆙ontinues to lead the F1 drivers' standings after claiming an 81st career podium at the Singapore Grand Prix, but his advantage over the field has been trimmed slightly as Sebastian Vettel took his second win of the year for Red Bull Racing.
The German inherited his success after poleman and early leader Lewis Hamilton retired with gearbox failure, but top spot allowed him to move back into second spot overall and reduce Alonso's lead to 29 points with six races remaining. Alonso used a combination of aggression and good fortune to fill the final step of the podium, behind ꦜJenson Button, limiting the damage to his advantage as best he could from fifth on the grid.
Hamilton's bad luck drops him back to fourth overall, as Kimi Raikkonen holds onto third in the table courtesy of his sixth place finish, while Button remains mired in sixth, despite taking 18 points out of ꦇMark Webber ahead of him.
In the Constructors' Championship, Red Bull Racing increased its lead over McLaren by seven points, back up to 36, with Ferrari strengthening its hold on third by five points over Lotus, despite both teams getting two drivers to 𒀰the finish. Sahara Forc൩e India remains seventh, but edges 11 points closer to Sauber - and away from Williams - courtesy of Paul di Resta's career-best fourth place.
