Martin Whitmarsh to take up F1 advisory role with FIA
Former McLaren Formula 1 team chief Martin Whitmarsh is set to take up an advisory role with the FIA to help define the series' future finan🐻꧒cial regulations.
Whitmarsh worked at McLaren between 1989 and 2014, operating as team pꦰrincipal from 2009 following Ron Dennis' decision to step down.
After leaving the team following a difficult 2013 campaign, Whitmarsh has since worked in America's ༺Cup sailing and recently took up a place on Formula E's advisory board.

Whitmarsh will now return to F1 via an advisory role with t♋he FIA, helping the series' governing body to define future financial regulations amid Liberty Media's consideration of a cost cap and a res☂tructuring of the current revenue payout system.
Besides his work with McLare𒁏n, Whitmarsh previously played a role in trying to define F1's future as chairman of the Formula One Teams' Association (FOTA) from 2010 until the organisation was disbanded in 2014.
