Ferrari has opted for an aggressive Formula 1 tyre strategy for the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix, while Mercedes has picked the fewest amount of Hypersofts following its struggles in Monaco.
The Italian outfit, which sits 18 points adrift of early constructors’ championship leaders Mercedes, has favoured Pirelli’s fa🔴stest-ever F1 compound - which debuted at last weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix - for the next race on June 10, with drivers Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen both select𝓰ing eight sets of Hypersofts each, along with three sets of Ultrasofts and two Supersofts.
Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and⛎ Valtteri Bottas reported heavy degradation on the pink-walled tyres in Monaco. The reigning world champions have subsequently opted for the most conservative strategy out of any team and will take just five sets of Hypersofts to Montreal.
Hamilton and Bo🐈ttas will each have five sets of Ultrasofts available to them across the weekend as well as three set🌸s of Supersofts.
Red Bull has ✱made identical selections to Ferrari with Renault and Force India also opting to take eight sets of Hypersofts, though both teams are favouring an extra set of Supersofts over the Ultrasoft compound.
McLa൩ren’s Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne will both have seven sets of Hypersofts, four sets of Ultrasofts and two sets of Supersofts, with Haas, Sauber and Williams all spli𝔍tting strategies between their drivers, though all three teams will take seven sets of Pirelli’s fastest available tyre.
