Gasly qualified 17th for Toro Rosso on Saturday൩ at Hockenheim, but will drop to the back of the field as a result of the penalty that is triggered as a result of exceeding the permitted allowance for each component.
Gasly had already been above the limit for four of the six power unit parts, but has taken a co🔯mplete set of new power unit elements in a tactical change by Honda, taking advantage of his low qualifying position.
With Gasly starting last, Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo gains a position on t💯he st🍌arting grid, having originally been due to start last as a result of his own grid penalty that was confirmed by the FIA on Friday.
The penalty also promotes Bren🤪don Hartley, Lance Strol🎃l and Stoffel Vandoorne an additional position for the start of the race, the trio having propped up the qualifying order on Saturday.
