Williams has confirmed Formula 2 racer Nicholas Latifi will join its Formula 1 operation ahead of the 2019 season, taking up the ro♋le of reserve driver.

Latifi, 23, has previously worked with both Renault and,🅠 most recently, Force India in F1 a🍷s a test and development driver, making five FP1 appearances through the course of the 2018 season.

The Canadian wil⛎l continue to balance his racing commitments with an F1 programme in 2019 after being named 🍸as Williams' new reserve driver for the 2019 season.

Latifi will offer support to full-time race drive💯🥃rs George Russell and Robert Kubica, the latter having acted as Williams' reserve in 2018 before being promoted into a race seat for next year.

"I'm thrilled to be🥂 joining an iconic team like Williams as a Reserve Driver for 2019. It's a fantastic opportunity to continue my F1 development, and to build my on-track experience with more FP1 sessions and the roo🅘kie and Pirelli tests," Latifi said.

"As well as this, a big part of my role will be simulator driving anꦓd helping to support the development of the new car. I look forward to spe♕nding time in the factory at Grove, immersing myself within the team and assisting wherever I can.

Latifi will feature in six FP1 sessions, two in-season test days, one pre-season test day in Barcelona and two Pirelli test days across the cour🐎se of 2019 as part of his role.
