Alexander Albon takes new power unit, gearbox ahead of Chinese GP

Alexander Albon has taken a new gearbox and a comple🐎te set of fresh power unit components ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix following his FP3 crash on Saturday.

Toro Rosso driver Albon crashed hard at the final corner in the closing stages of final practice at the Shan⛄ghai International Circuit, le🌺aving his STR14 car with significant damage.

Albon was forced to miss qu🥂alifying as a result of the damage, with the team changing the chassis ahead of today's race.

Alexander Albon has taken a new gearbo﷽x and a complete se꧂t of fresh power unit components ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix following his FP3 crash on Saturday.

Toro Rosso driver Albon crashed hard at the final corner in the closing stages of final practice at the Shanghai International Circui♐t, leaving his STR14 car with significant damage.

Albon was🎃 forced to miss qualifying asꦕ a result of the damage, with the team changing the chassis ahead of today's race.

In the FIA's pre-race technical bulletin, it was confirmed that Albon had taken a fresh set of new power unit com▨ponents - engine, MGU-K, MGU-H, turbocharger, energy store and control electronics - ahead of the race.

Albon moves onto his second of each component, hitting the yearly limit of two MGU-K, energy stores and control electronics at just the thi🎃rd race of the year.

Albon has also taken a new 🧸gearbox for the race, with the five-place grid penalty applied having no impact on his starting position as he will start from the pit lane.

The only other driver to make any major part changes ahead of ෴the race is Antonio Giovinazzi, who moved onto his second control electronics of the year atജ Alfa Romeo.
