Sergio Perez has been handed a reprimand for an incident i🅘nvolving Kevin Magnussen during second practice for Formula 1’s Singapore Grand Prix.
The pair clashed in the closing stages of FP2 as Racing Point driver Perez ap💞peared to squeeze Magnussen into the wall on the run between Turns 21 and𒊎 22.
Magnussen had looked to gai💯n track position in the final sector of the lap before opening up a flying effort, but was forced to back out when Perez moved across on him as the duo jostled for position.
Perez subsequently came to blows with Magnussen, who in turn was pushed into slight contact with the outside wall, before radioing in to hi🍬s team to check for damage.
Both drivers were able to continue in the session but the Singapore stewards were quick to call Perez before them to di🔥scuss the incident, along with team representatives from Racing Point.
Speaking about the incident, P🦹erez said: "Basically there is not a strict rule, but there is a gentlemen’s agreement.
"Everyone is opening up their laps. I had I think one of 𒀰the Mercedes ahead, a few secon🌱ds, so I’m opening the gap, and I didn’t expect him to try to go there. I think we touched, and that was it."
The Mexican a▨dded he would "definitely" speak to Magnussen about the incident to seek clarification.
"We have to figure out, some drivers they stick to the gentlemen’s agreement, but 🧸the issue is some others, they don’t," he added. "I think it’s something we have to come ꩵup with, whether we have to implement a rule or whatsoever. It’s not good to see that."
Perez ended up as the quickest Racing Poin🎀t driver in 13th place, some 2.102s off the pace managed by session le🌳ader and world championship leader Lewis Hamilton.
Magnussen finished the day’s running in 19th in what was an uncompetitive showing for Haas. Teammate Romain Grosjean was only a tenth quicker in 17th, with the Haas drivers🀅 sepaജrated by George Russell’s Williams.
