Nicholas Latifi confirms F1 number choice ahead of debut season
Nichola𝐆s Latifiಞ has confirmed his permanent number selection ahead of his debut season in Formula 1, choosing #6.
Latifi will make his F1 debut this season with Williams after finishing se🤡cond in last year’s Formula 2 championship, partnering George Russell at the British team.
The Canadian is the only rookie on the grid for 2020, making him the only dr🥃iver without an existing permanent number choice.
Latifi confirmed in a short announcement video on social med꧑ia that he would be using #6 for his permanent number in F1.

“I decided to choose number six,” Latifi said.
“The reason I chose this is because I am from Toronto, and 🉐Toronto is known as ‘The Six’, basically because if you’re from there, your area code for your phone number is either 416, or 647.
“It’s a bit silly, bu⛄t that kind of stuc𒅌k, so I decided to choose that.”
#6 was last used in F1 by Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg during his world championship-winning team, having carried the number since permanent ch൩oices were introduced for the 2014 season.
O♋ther drivers to have raced with #6 in the past include Juan Manuel Fangio, Jim Clark an📖d Kimi Raikkonen.
Latifi will make his F1 debut at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix on March 15 following two three-day winter tests in Barcelona through ♔Februa❀ry, where running will be split between him and Russell in the FW43 car.
