Ex-Haas Formula 1 driver Romain Grosjean has und🍃ergone surgery on his left hand to repair ligament damage sustaine𓆏d in his Bahrain Grand Prix crash.

Grosjean’s left hand side of his body took the brunt of his 53G impact🌊 with the barriers that tore his Haas F1 car in two before it burst into flames in his horrific opening lap accident during last month’s Bahrain Gr♛and Prix.

The Frenchman had hoped to make a swift return to the cockpit to contest his final race with Haas at last weekend’s season-ending Abu Dhabi꧃ Grand Prix but decided to skip the event in order to continue receiving treatment to the burns on his hands in what he described as “one of the hardest decisions of my life”.

Grosjean revealed on social media that he was about to have surgery on Tuesday evening to repair the damage to his lefꦯt hand and clean up the wound, as well as receiving treatment for his right hand following an earlier injury picked up in 2020.

"On my le🐷ft hand, the th🥂umb ligament has been damage in the crash and we need to clean the wounds from the burn,” Grosjean said in a post on Instagram.

"Right hand also getting some treatment a🦩fter some early 2020 injury. Should be a new man tomorrow.”

On Wednesday morning, Grosjean pr꧙ovided an update conf🍬irming that “everything went well” with his surgery.

Grosjean is unlikely to return to F1 in the future 🐷following his Haas departure but said he would like to conduct a private farewell test in a car to properly mark🐲 the end of his career in the sport.

Reigꦚning world champions Mercedes are willing to offer Grosjean a﷽ private test in one of their title-winning cars if he was unable to arrange such an outing with another team.
