Ed Carpenter was awarded the pole for the Aventis Racing For Kids 100 ಞafter Panther Racing, which fields driver Mark Taylor, was penalized after failing a post-qualifying technical inspection.

Freedom 100 winner Carpenter will start from the pole after a qualifying lap of 29.9746 seconds, 182.55💃5 mph in the No. 14 Futaba/Delphi/A.J. Foyt Racing Dallara-Infiniti. It is his second pole of the season. He won the Freedom 100 from the pole in May at the Indianapo🌳lis Motor Speedway.

Carpenter's lap was a series record for the 1.5-mile oval, as the Infiniti Pro Series marks its first anniversary as the Indy Racing League's🥃 official🅠 development series.

Rookie Taylor appeared to earn his second pole of the season with a tꦬop lap of 29.9444, 182.739 in the No. 4 Fu🌜lmar Panther Dallara-Infiniti.

However: Pursuant to Appendix B - Technical Specifications, ไRule 100 (B) of the IRL Infiniti Pro Series Rule Book, Taylor's No. 4 Fulmar Panther Dallara-Infiniti failed post-qualifying technical inspection and had its time disqualified, moving Taylor to the back of the starting field, said Roger Bailey, Infiniti Pro Series executive director.

Taylor may appeal the imposition of the penalty within the time and in the manner prescribed in Section 12.1 of the Rule Book. An appeal may result in an increase, decrease or no change to the penalty.

USAC short-track standout Aaron Fike will start second after posting a q꧟ualifying run of 30.0385, 182.166 in the No. 91 RFMS/H🎃emelgarn Racing entry. Fike won the last race, the Pikes Peak 100 on June 14.
