The 2013 race winner used a draft💮 to log a quick lap at 39.9083s averaging 225.517 mph. A legion of Hondas followeꦅd him led by Dale Coyne Racing rookie Santino Ferrucci who clocked a hot lap of 39.9137s (225.486 mph).

A tandem of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Hondas took third and fourth led by 2017 winner Takuma Sato and followed by rookie Jordan King and completing the top five was four-time Indy starter James Davison in the Dale Coyne Byrd-Hol🦩linger-Belardi Honda entry.
Four-time Indy car champ Sebas🍨tie𒐪n Bourdais was sixth while 2016 champ Alexander Rossi ended up seventh and 2015 third-place finisher Charlie Kimball ended up eighth.
The highest qualified rookie of the race Colton Herta👍 ended up ninth and defending 500 champ Will Power rounded out the top ten.
Team Penske's remaining t🧜hree entries ended up scattered throughout the leaderboard with Helio Castroneves ending up 12th just ahead of series points leader Josef Newgarden in 13th. Newgarden logged 72 laps - the most of any driver.
Pole sitter Simon Pagenaud had an 💙unspectacular session and ended up🧸 22nd quickest.
