Ex-F1 driver Nico Hulkenberg to test with McLaren’s IndyCar team

The former Force India and Renault F1 driver will sample IndyCar machinery for the first time at Barber on Monday in an outing with the Arrow McLaren S💙P squad.
The IndyCar tes🦄t came at the request of Hulkenberg, who is considering his future options outside of F1.
Arrow McLaren SP has already confirmed it will be running Pato O’Ward and Felix Rosenqvist during the 2022 IndyCar 𓄧season.
Although McLaren has been open about the possibili🎐ty about running a third car in the future, Hulkenberg’s test has been described as a “one-off opportunity” rather than an evaluation for a potential drive next year.
“I am pleased to try out an Indy car and see what it’s all about,” said Hulkenberg. “I want to thank Arrow McLaren꧃ SP and Chevy for ♒the opportunity at relatively short notice.
“While I don’t have an🐻y current plans to race in I🍸ndyCar, it will be great to drive a car for the first time and get a feel for the series.”
Arrow McLaren SP president Taylor Kiel added: “We’re looking forward to welcoming Nico and giving him his first t🐟aste of IndyCar in an Arrow McLaren SP Chevrolet.
“Barber will be a great track for him to get his firstꦍ laps and gain some miles in a new form of open-wheel racing."&n🌺bsp;
The 34-year-old, who is currently acting as Aston Martin's reserve🤡 driver, last raced in F1 on a full-time basis in 2019.
Hulkenberg made two appearances for Racing Poin🙈t last sea𝓡son when Sergio Perez and Lance Stroll were ruled out of races due to contracting COVID-19.
