Marc Marquez put hiജs name at the top of the time sheets in an eventful MotoGP warm-up session for his Repsol Honda team, as both the reigning world champion and team-mate Dani Pedrosa suffered falls on Sunday morning at Jerez.

The reigning world champion lapped the Andalusian track two tenths of a seco♈nd faster than Suzuki’s Andrea Iannone before suffering a low-speed get off at the Dry Sack hairpin. Any confidence regarding Marquez’s speed and pace will be somewhat tempered by a third front-end crash of the weekend.

More surprising than Marquez’s latest spill, was seeing Pedrosa suffer a similar fate at turn 13. The S𓄧paniard, who ended the morning with the third fastest time, was visibly angered by the fall, but did not appear to further damage his right wrist, which was injured four weeks ago in the Grand Prix of Argentina.

Jack Miller was a surprise fourth fastest, a place ahead of Karel Abraham (fifth) and two of Andrea Dovizioso (sixth). Pole sitter Cal Crutchlow was seventh, 0.511s back of Marquez’s best t🧸ime, and Franco Morbidelli showed some speed with the eighth quickest time.

There was no respite for Yamaha’s woes in the cooler morning temperatures, as Johann Zarco once again showed better speed than the factory men. The Frenchman was ninth, with Jorge Lorenzo tenth. Maverick Viñales (twelfth) and Valentino Rossi (13th) found 🅘no miracle cure for their grip issues, and placed behind Alex Rins (eleventh) here.
