Workington Come⛎ts suffered further injury troubles on Saturday night as popular Australian heat leader Mick Powell crashed out, possibly for the season, with a broken femur and assorted othꦡer injuries in the home victory over Arena Essex.

As a heat leader, Powell can be replaced by a guest, but that will be little comfort for the Comets. And, if the decision is taken to sign a replacement, that will still leave the team with a very difficult🅰 job, as Powell joins Barry Campbell and Darren Groves on Workington's long term injur🍎ed list.

The problems did not stop the Comets travelling down to Newport on Sunday af༒ternoon, however, and the Cumbrian team was duly rewarded with a two point victory which sends them to the top of the Premier League.

In a separaꦫte incident on Saturday night, Stoke's Jan Staechmann collected a broken collarbone in thei𓂃r narrow victory over Swindon.
