Robert Wickens has undergone further surgeries late this week following his crash during the ABC Supply 500 IndyCar race at Pocono Raceway on Sunday, having s♏uffered injuries to his right arm, lower extremities and spina⛄l cord.

Schmidt Peterson Motorsports driver Wickens was involved in a multi-car incident on the opening lap of𒆙 the Pocono race that resulted iᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚn his car being thrown into the air and into the catch fencing.

Wickens was reported to be "awake and alert" in the aftermath of the incident before being taken to the local Lehigh Valley Hospital, with the Canadian undergoing surgery on a spinal ༒cord injꦰury on Monday night.

In the latest update𒐪 issued by Schmidt Peterson Motorsports team and INDYCAR on Friday, it was confirmed that Wickens had undergone further surgeries for fractures to his right arm and legs, but that the extent of the injury to his spinal cord remains unclear.

"Schmidt Peterson Motorsports driver Robert Wickens continues to be treated at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest for injuries sustained during the INDYCAR event at Pocono Raceway on Sunday, Aug🅷. 19," the statement reads.

"Surgeries were performed late thi💖s week on his right arm and lower extremities without complication. The extent of the spinal cord inj🍌ury remains indeterminate. Wickens also underwent a series of precautionary tests that found no indication of further injury.

"Future treatment for Wickens includes m♔ore corrective surgery and reh🔯abilitation. The thoughts of the entire INDYCAR community are with the Wickens family and SPM during this time."

Schmidt Peterson Motorsports confirmed earlier this week it would be entering just one car for this weekend's IndyCar race at Gateway, withdrawing the #6 Honda entry usually driven by Wickenꦚs.
